New Job Update. Sort of.
Bill talked with some of his buddies at work last night about the upcoming interview, and several of them have been postal employees for a long time. They told him that if he's getting called in for an interview on site - which he is - the interview's just a formality and he'd going to get offered the job.
I'll be going up there with him and I'm planning on scoping out the area and maybe have a quick visit with a realtor while he interviews. This just feels so unreal. Pretty much all of the houses that we've looked at online that seem perfect - 80+ year old, two story homes on decent sized hunks of land - are well under our potential pay-cash price range because we have a great deal of equity in our current house. Small town, rural Iowa is very inexpensive living. ;) If the housing market here holds (ha ha) and even if it doesn't, even if we sell for well under market value... our long term financial horizon is very bright indeed.
Short term, it'll suck. Bill will need to rent a place up there, so we'll be making a house payment, plus paying rent, plus double utilities, double lots of things. The kid and I talked about 'the plan' today and the best case scenario is that we'll all be moved out and relocated by June 1. We will not relocate our daughter the last semester of her Senior Year. We just won't. She might need to stay with my mom or Bill's dad for a while, but I might end up staying here until then painting and polishing up the house anyway.
We're just all so excited, and very hopeful that this life change will fall into place.
We could have zero debt come June, a fresh start, and a whole new life.
This is amazing! lol
I have paint chips, have some carpet and linoleum samples, and I really think we can pull this off. Here's hoping he gets the job!
